He was born in 1940. He finished Faculty of Philosophy. Cartoon was his preoccupation since his childhood and he started actively publishing his work since 1996.

He was a frequent collaborator in many eminent newspapers and magazines in the former Yugoslavs regions, and worldwide where he was frequently republished. His book "Horns" was published in 1977.

Pop-lliev is one of the founders of the Cartoon association in Macedonia, as well as initiator and organizer of the first Macedonian exhibitions in foreign. His first solo exhibition was organized within the Festival "Satirikon" in Legnica- Poland in 1980.

He is illustrator of many books and schoolbooks. His works can be found in many cartoon museums worldwide. His cartoons are published in around 500 festival catalogues and cartoon exhibitions.

Today he is one of the most active cartoonists in Republic of Macedonia. He got over 80 international awards and honors.
