Off to new shores
The mighty Ark accelerates, the deck is overcrowded with people and the numerous bull's eyes are entirely occupied with red Yu Liang-noses. Altogether staring motionless at the Old World, not knowing where the journey is heading. Only Noah seems to have certainty and is waving goodbye with his handkerchief. Left behind are the animals, the solid ground and the green grass. Gathered at the shores are twosomes of elephants, lions and giraffes in blissful secrecy. They are almost smiling, pleased to bid "Farewell" – quite in the spirit of; at last, the fools are gone! The Chinese drawer Yu Liang twists the archaic story of Noah in a splendid way. The people aboard this ship will experience no rescue this time, but are taking an unnecessary risk. The animals, however, are not on board and remain, in total peace of mind, on the mainland. Yu Liang mixes a further dose of apocalyptic spice to his Noah-story by baptizing the ark with the ominous name "Titanic". And his cute snappishness finally culminates in the shape of the waving monkeys, cradling two human babies in their hands. Maybe a new beginning. Definitely, a great persiflage on human megalomania.
