Enjoy the World of Cartoons

Before the release of my book this month, (finally, finally) the publishing house is releasing advanced copies to various book reviewers, columnists, art critics, etc so that they might cover it and get a buzz going. One email that came back to my editor—who forwarded it to me for my consideration—read as follows:

“This book will appeal to youngsters from whom all vestiges of genuine sentimentality and appreciation for beauty have been excised by a philosophically-induced, state-reinforced, culture-indoctrinated cynicism. The poor gum-chewing, attention-span challenged automatons that have been spiritually lobotomized should enjoy the pictures, but don’t except them to read the text.”

I wrote my editor back, asking her to ask the individual who wrote that if he would, word for word, publish that in his column. And to make sure he spells my name correctly.

The article seen here is not that article, but a rather favorable one. I welcome those too. ;]

Given the publicity I’m getting covering the release of my first book—and my name in the art world—I am told that I already have *384* orders for my book….a book that isn’t even officially released yet! So I’ll let that talk above the noise of critical critics.
