Technical Total Loss
A wonderful instrument, this grand piano. As large as a stretch limousine. Yet even this piece of equipment must go through an inspection sometime. So what does the mechanic, ignorant of art, bring to the light? A pile of twisted notes. Musical junk. The pianist's day of truth has obviously come. He realises that his career has been based only on appearances. Underneath it looked the same as under the hood of an old stretch limousine: handsome but technically a total loss. William Medeiros from Brazil exhausts the contrast between a no-nonsense trade and pathetic art to the max. Instead of using the tuning fork, carelessly thrown on the floor, he has a go at art with a spanner and in doing so, reveals the grand delusions that pave every road to glory: the inability of self-criticism.
