Icarus of the Seas
The world hunger for energy has by now assumed cosmic dimensions. This is no longer a question of whether we have a car-free Sunday or use an energy saving lamp in the bathroom. This is about to be or not to be, about the planet's existence. Pawel Kuczynski from Poland has staged the energy collapse pictorially - with a monstrous tanker, which is so large that it no longer fits the curvature of the earth. So it dangles in a fragile balance between heaven and earth, typifying the forsakenness of man in space, whose reaching for the stars has alienated him from his roots. Just like the ship's propeller, this without contact with the water, is useless and unnecessary. In Pawel Kaczynski's image, the oil tanker is the Icarus of the seas.überflüssig ist. Der Öltanker, bei Pawel Kuczynski ist er ein Ikarus der Meere.
