Pawel Kuczynski, the 32-year-old, Polish star-cartoonist, seemingly chisels out the grey zone of (human-) contempt, which can hide behind many overblown words, out of a monumental granite block of pathos in the image „Speech“. Pathos means suffering, and, as always, it is referring to the suffering of others. As "sugar-coated“, the warm tones of the cartoons gleams, so the speaker "paints" the words of his address. The filigree microphone cable, just as if made for stilted one-liners, soon muddles into a fat sewer tube to the delight of the large canal-rats, because there is no one else there to listen to this speech - the speaker is frozen in an endless forsakenness. His sweetish language is anything but "faecal", but rather the sole cynical message. Do we see a very early Erich Mielke in Kuczynskis brutal merciless accusation? Who might call out any minute: but I love you all! Or a young Ackermann? Pierer? Or, or...
