Just want to point out that I am doing this as a hobby and cannot pay for translations especially since I was made redundant from my Designer job at Christmas. I would love your help thanks - The idea is to put translations on the cartoons placed on my Flickr pages in note form - I have a few done in French Spanish and German - I just need the rest done. Eventually I will do the languages properly inside the speech bubbles and make a Super-AL Flickr page that relates to the particular language. Last year I made a basic Super-AL calendar with French Months - I would be open to ideas like this. Check out:

Obviously, it still depends on the context, but "Mein bester Freund" is a correct translation.

Thanks. You helped very much. I haven't had a German language class since 1975 and have never been exposed to the language in daily usage.
I was concerned about small things that a literal translation might miss. You know, something like "yes, that's the actual translation but normally, we would really say..."
