History has a special place for Nelson Mandela, aka: Madiba. He was the man who helped bring down the racist white minority government which ruled South Africa until 1994 under the policy of Apartheid, which was a legal form of segregation and inequality between whites, blacks and other races. Mr. Mandela, at the time that this illustration was published, was fighting for his life, hanging on by a thin thread, as doctors and nurses tried to stave off a lung infection which had been bothering the 94 year old retired President, social activist and former prisoner for the past few weeks.
