El paraguayo Nicolás Leoz renunció a los cargos en la FIFA después de 15 años en funciones.Según informaciones de prensa, Leoz renuncia cuando la FIFA estudia abrir una investigación en su contra por el presunto soborno, cuyo pagador habría sido el exdirigente qatarí Mohamed Bin Hamman, quien fue inhabilitado de por vida de la Federación de Fútbol por intentar comprar votos por 20 millones de dólares cada uno.
