newspaper Turk Sozu in 1941.
He launched Turkish humor magazine
Akbaba in 1943 and became one of the
most famous comic artists in Turkey.
His work, of which 'Abdul Canbaz' is
the most well known,
has appeared in magazines like Aydede,
Yon, Devrim Ornegi, Yeni istanbul,
Milliyet and Aksam and Cumhuriyet.
Some of his drawings have been acquired
by several European museums.

Turhan Selcuk, died in Istanbul last night at 01.30 after his surgery at Acibadem Hospital. Selcuk was one of the most influential caricaturists of Turkey, shaping the country's sense of humor.
Turhan Selcuk, who worked for the Cumhuriyet newspaper died in Istanbul last night at 01.30.
Selcuk was taken into intensive care after his surgery at the Acibadem Hospital in Maslak, where he passed away.
The famous caricaturist's drawings left deep impressions shaping the sense of humour in Turkish society.
Turhan Selcuk, who was born in Milas by Mugla in 1922, was one of the co-founders of the caricaturist association along with Semih Balcioglu and Ferit Ongoren. He worked at periodicals like Selcuk, Akbaba, Aydede, Yon, Devrim and newspapers like Milliyet and Aksam.
Selcuk, who became especially popular with his character Abdulcanbaz, had many exhibitions in museums throughout Turkey and Europe. He is further journalist author Ilhan Selcuk's brother.
