Closing our borders is diametrically opposed to the values of openness and inclusiveness we hold dear and means giving in to those who seek to curtail our freedom. When our freedom seems to be challenged, we should embrace it even more.

In 2015, Merkel welcomed immigrants. She said "we will manage this". Now we know that the integration work involved is very extensive (language courses, integration courses, childcare places and increased school capacities, . . .)
And if integration efforts fail, there will arise real social problems!
